About One Light Yoga & Movement Classes

My classes have evolved over the years to offer ease, healing, and stress-relief to busy, hard-working people. Relaxation is the antidote to stress and I believe that most people have *plenty* of stress in their lives; your workouts and yoga practice should not ADD to that stress! With gentle poses, healing movement patterns, and attention to the breath, in combination with high-quality and moving music, we aim to soothe tight and tired muscles while calming our overworked brains. Classes vary according to student needs each week, but we aim for a radiant and balanced practice: both flowing movements and static poses; both conditioning and relaxation; both warm-up, stretching, and cool-down; and both focused concentration and mindful meditation. My teaching style is nurturing and compassionate, as I aspire to meet every student where s/he is on any given day. My classes can be sometimes challenging, sometimes soothing; sometimes lighthearted, sometimes introspective. Students are encouraged to be mindful of their own needs at all times, always taking care of their bodies and practicing ahimsa, or non-harming, with the intention of moving to feel better in each moment. I feel privileged to practice with students of all body types, ages, genders, and levels of experience and flexibility, and I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to share yoga and healing movement with beginners and people who have previously found movement classes to be inaccessible. I believe yoga and mindful movement can help us slough off layers of tension and doubt that hide our inner light, and I am honored when any of that sloughing can happen in our shared practices!
